Apache OFBiz™ is an open source product for the automation of enterprise processes that includes framework components and business applications for ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), E-Business / E-Commerce, SCM (Supply Chain Management), MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning), MMS/EAM (Maintenance Management System/Enterprise Asset Management), POS (Point Of Sale).
Apache OFBiz has many business applications out of the box, but it has a lot of confused business terms for new users or developers. In this post, I will collect and describe some of them.
1. Product store: in which you can sell your products or services. You can define Inventory policies, Shipping policies, Payment policies, Tax policies and E-commerce policies. You must have one store to sell, sell via call center executive or sell via e-commerce site or sell via sales executive(demo link).
2. Facility: It can be a Floor, Building or Retail store. There are some basic actions:
- Storing: It can store Inventory Item.
- Receiving: from purchase order, return order or product.
- Transferring: From one facility to others.
- Picking: Pick from inventory items and prepare to pack
- Packing: Pack prepared items into package.
- Shipping: Ship from one party to others.
- Locating: Place inventory item to right locations.
- Scheduling: Schedule shipment.
3. Inventory Item: which is stored in Facility. There are two types: Serialize and Non-Serialize.
